Verification Standards

A verified Proovly profile means something. It means the stats on your profile come directly from a real trading account that you connected with read-only credentials. Here’s what that standard requires and how we enforce it.

What makes a profile verified

A profile earns the Verified badge when all of the following are true:

Real account connection. At least one live trading account is connected — MT4/MT5 via investor password, crypto exchange via read-only API key, or DeFi wallet via public address.
Read-only credentials. For MT4/MT5, you provide the investor password (not the master password). For crypto exchanges, the API key has read-only permissions only. For DeFi, we read public on-chain data.
Active sync. The account is currently syncing and has delivered at least one successful data pull within the last 24 hours.
No manual stat editing. You cannot edit, override, or adjust any number that comes from a connected account. The stats are what the stats are.

Automated refresh cycle

Proovly pulls fresh data from your connected accounts on a schedule based on your tier:

Each sync pulls the latest balance, equity, PnL, drawdown, open positions, and trade history. The profile updates automatically — you never have to manually refresh.

Anti-sybil measures

Proovly takes steps to prevent users from gaming the verification system:

One profile per person. Multiple accounts linking to the same broker login or exchange API key are flagged and merged.
No cherry-picking accounts. You can connect multiple trading accounts, but you cannot hide accounts you’ve connected. Once an account is linked, its stats are part of your profile until you disconnect it (and disconnection is visible).
Disconnection history is public. If you disconnect an account, your profile shows when it was connected and when it was removed. Followers and signal subscribers can see the gap.
Cross-referencing. MetaApi provides the broker account login, which is unique. Exchange API keys are tied to specific exchange accounts. DeFi wallet addresses are immutable. We cross-reference these to detect duplicate or coordinated accounts.

What happens if you disconnect

If you disconnect a trading account from your profile:

The account’s stats stop updating immediately.
Historical data from when the account was connected remains visible on your profile, clearly marked as “disconnected.”
Your on-chain ELO is not retroactively adjusted — past performance already recorded stays recorded.
If you were selling signals based on that account, subscribers are notified that the source account has been disconnected.
Reconnecting the same account resumes syncing from the current state — the gap period shows as a break in the timeline.

What we verify vs. what we don’t

We verify:

That the account is real (connected to a live broker server or exchange)
That the stats are pulled directly from the source (not user-submitted)
That the connection is read-only (no trading or withdrawal capability)
That the data refreshes on schedule

We do not verify:

Whether you are the sole person trading the account
Whether you use manual trading, bots, or copy-trading
Whether your strategy is original
Whether you are profitable (verification means the stats are real, not that they are good)

What gets you flagged

Three things will get your profile flagged or suspended:

Submitting fake credentials. Attempting to connect with credentials that don’t match a real broker account or exchange account.
API key with trading permissions. If your exchange API key has trading or withdrawal permissions enabled, we reject it at connection time. This protects you and us.
Coordinated stat manipulation. Multiple Proovly profiles coordinating trades across connected accounts to inflate stats artificially.

Flagged profiles lose their verified badge until the issue is resolved. Suspended profiles are removed from the leaderboard and signals marketplace.
